Our Background

Hands of Strength Ministries (HOSM) was founded by Nakiranda Alice, a visionary leader with a heart for the broken and marginalized. Born into extreme poverty, Alice experienced firsthand the challenges of growing up in need, including the struggle to access education. Despite these hardships, by God’s grace, she persevered and completed her studies up to university.

After completing her education, Alice embraced her faith as a born-again Christian and married a pastor. Together, they pastored a church for five years. However, life took a devastating turn when her husband, the senior pastor, backslid from his faith. This marked the beginning of Alice’s suffering and profound challenges for her and her children.

A Journey Through Adversity

Alice endured years of hardship as her husband stopped providing for the family, despite his financial capability. Her children were sent away from school due to unpaid tuition, and they lived in constant fear due to his violent behavior. One painful memory that remains vivid for Alice is when a kind neighbor offered her hungry child milk, only for her husband to snatch it away and pour it out in anger, leaving the child crying.

For three years, Alice stayed in her marriage, holding onto her faith and trying to protect the church she and her husband had nurtured. However, as the violence escalated and the well-being of her children was at risk, she made the difficult decision to leave the marriage to safeguard her life and her children.

Starting over as a single mother was an immense challenge. Alice faced loneliness, poverty, and shattered self-esteem. Yet, through it all, she remained steadfast in her faith, believing that God would one day transform her situation.

The Birth of Hands of Strength Ministries

Drawing from her experiences, Alice found a renewed purpose: to give hope to the hopeless. She founded Hands of Strength Ministries with the mission to support vulnerable groups, including single mothers, orphans, widows, needy families, and young school dropouts.

Alice envisioned HOSM as a place where those facing adversity could find:

Skills Training: Empowering individuals with vocational skills to become self-sufficient and support their families.
Counseling and Emotional Support: Providing proper counseling to help rebuild self-esteem, which Alice personally understands is often lost during challenging times.
Spiritual Guidance and Hope: Offering encouragement and faith-based support to help people see a brighter future.

Alice’s Vision

Alice’s journey of resilience and unwavering faith drives the work of Hands of Strength Ministries. She believes that no one is beyond hope and that with compassion, practical support, and God’s grace, lives can be transformed. HOSM is her way of turning her pain into purpose, extending love and strength to those who feel forgotten or broken.

Today, Hands of Strength Ministries stands as a testament to Alice’s courage and determination. The organization continues to uplift lives, offering not just aid but the tools and support needed to build a future filled with dignity, empowerment, and hope.

Mission Statement

To manifest the glory and the love of God through preaching and teaching the word of God and sharing the love and the blessings of Jesus Christ with the poor and needy like single parents, elderly and the sick by feeding, clothing, treating, educating and providing sustainable vocation skills (James 2:13-16, Mathew 25:37-40) all over the world. We do these by:

A: Transformational development that is community based initiatives like skills training centers, other education establishments focused on women, youth and the children and worship centers.
B: Partnerships with churches to contribute to spiritual and social transformation, the church of Jesus is our gateway to the community therefore we create partnership with the local churches to identify the needs and to help in the implementation of a given program.

Future Plans of the Ministry

The ministry is planning to acquire a bigger piece of land to establish the skills training center and other facilities for the ministry like offices, treatment center,childrens learning center, worship center etc.
Being a Christian organization, our bigger plan is to reach as many souls as possible with the word of God and sharing his love through evangelism and discipleship missions all over the world.
To accomplish the above, we need equipment like public address system, trucks and vans for movement to reach out to other communities.
Some courses are still lacking training equipment like computer skills, motor driving skills and other necessary machines. Therefore our plan is to have these equipment to provide adequate and diversified skills to the students.
God has given us the resources to make a difference. We are therefore looking for partners that can commit to stand with hands of strength ministries to accomplish our mission to use the to help the poor
